SECURITY GUIDELINES FOR CARNIVAL 2009

 

 

The Carnival Development Committee (CDC) in collaboration with the Sub-Committee responsible for Security wishes to inform the general public of the following Security Guidelines for Carnival 2009:

• No drinks should be sold or served in glass bottles anywhere inside the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) or within the perimeter controlled by the CDC. All bottled drinks should be served / sold in plastic or foam cups. Patrons will not be allowed to bring drinks in glass bottles or cans inside the ARG.

 

• No patron shall attempt to enter the ARG through any gate whilst in possession of any of the following: Knives, scissors, cutlasses, ice picks or any other cutting implements.

 

• Privately licensed firearms MUST be declared at the entrance gate and be handed over to any police officer in attendance.

 

• The cut off period for all vehicles entering the grounds is
5:30 p.m. with the exception of emergency, police, and service vehicles which were given clearance by the CDC. No vehicle should be parked inside the grounds after 6.00 p.m.

 

• Back Stage passes will be limited to performers and support casts only, and will be valid for one time use only. At the end of each performance the passes will be invalid and the persons to whom the passes were issued will be asked to leave back stage. They will not be allowed to re-enter the back stage area.

 

• The area in front of the stage cordoned off by rope is reserved for photographers, police and security personnel.


• Patrons should be encouraged to bring plastic bags for their personal litter.

 

• Patrons should purchase tickets in advance of each show, as this will reduce time spent at the ticket booth on the night of the event.

 

• Patrons are encouraged to park vehicles in designated areas that are well lit. Handbags, cell phones, or any other valuable items should not be left in parked vehicles. If valuables can be secured at home – Please leave them there.

 

• Freelance Photography or filming is not permitted in the ARG. Photographers who are authorized by the CDC to operate inside the grounds, must display accreditation passes at all times and should only operate in designated areas.

 

• Any patron who enters the ground illegally or who enters any restricted area or goes onto the stage without permission will be escorted from the grounds and will be reported to the police.

 

• Any person who disrupts any of the shows by noise, fighting or obscene behavior will be escorted from the grounds without a refund, and will not be allowed to re-enter the grounds on the said day or night. The Police will be called in to deal with such matters.
